MSI K8N Neo2 onboard sound

Does anyone have any experience w/ the K8N's onboard sound (realtek 850, I believe). I have an sb live! value, and considering how old it is I wonder if the onboard sound would be better, but I guess that depends on how far onboard sound has progressed. I only have 2.1 digital speakers, so nothing fancy. I'll probably get some flavor of audigy eventually, but it's not my top priority.

given my speaker setup, do you think it would be worth it sound-wise or performance-wise to invest in an audigy2 zs at some point down the road?

I have a high-end 2.1 settup, back from the days when such things existed. My Aureal SQ2500 was better than my SB Live 5.1, but later tests against my similar onboard sound showed the difference to be marginal. I think buying a Creative soundcard is a waste of money.
