sit there forever, and you do have the option to hit tab or del for the
boot screen or bios, but it wont work! my keyboard doesnt do
anything... on the d bracket code thing says that its "bios sign on"
thats what the manual said anyways... whats going on guys...

Nforce chipsets are very picky about keyboards. I expect you system is set
up to "halt on keyboard error", but you can't see for the startup logo!

When I got my Abit NF7-S I had the very same problem , and had to change to
a Microsoft keyboard to get it to boot. I am using that keyboard with my K8n
Neo2 without a problem.

No, it was a PS2 keyboard.

I ran into this problem when I attached Western Digital IDE HDDs to a new system that is booting
from SATA Raptor drives. Turned out I *had* to have the jumper on the IDE HDDs set to 'cable
select' or it hung on boot.
Same board and processor.

One other consideration is RAM placement. You might double check the manual
to make sure that your RAM sticks are in the proper slots. You need to
determine wheter your RAM is double or single-sided, as that will make a
difference. If single-sided, use both green slots, if double-sided, put one
stick in the first green slot and the second stick in the first purple slot.

Sounds like your confused between "double sided" and "dual channel"?

Nope. I couldn't get my double-sided Corsair 2x512 to run as Dual Channel
until I placed them as stated above. I assumed from everything I'd read that
you always used the 2 green slots for two sticks, but the manual shows that
that configuration applies only to single-sided RAM, whereas Double-sided
RAM requires the 1st green slot & the 1st purple slot, as specified in the
manual.
Until I moved my RAM to that configuration, I was running at 333mhz, single
channel, 64 bit. As soon as I moved the RAM to the specified slots (#1
green, #1 purple) for double-sided RAM, the status changed to 400mhz, dual
channel, 128 bit.

My Neo2 Platinum manual says for dual channel use green+purple. It doesn't
say anything about double sided vs. single sided with regard to dual
channel, but it does show that double sided in both green or both purple
limits you to 166MHz (DDR 333).

I have cheapo Corsair Value double sided dimms working dual channel at 200,
but had to force it via the bios.

Are you talking about the Neo"2" Platinum?
It shows for dual channel they should go in slots 1 & 2.

In reviewing the manual, you're correct that it doesn't specify double &
single sided placement in regards to dual channel, only in regards to DDR. I
assumed such because that was the only way I could get dual channel mode
with my DS RAM. Have you tried placing double-sided RAM in slots 1 & 2, and
if so, what were the results?

Yes, NEO 2 Plat. Check the table on page 2-8 in the manual. "D" stands for
double-sided RAM, "S" stands for single-sided RAM. Single-sided RAM does
indeed belong in slots 1 & 2. Double sided RAM, however, will only run at
333 DDR in slots 1 & 2, and in my case at least, will only run in single
channel mode. I could only achieve dual channel mode (& 400 DDR) with my
double-sided RAM by placing them in slots 1 & 3, as per the above mentioned
table.

No. I try to avoid the stuff.

According to my manual on page 2-8, the 9th and 10th lines indicate that
double sided memory can be used in dimm1/dimm2 or dimm3/dimm4, at DDr400
speeds. It's running both on a single channel as on line 6 which reduces the
speed to DDR333.

My mistake. I got lost for a minute there. I should have stated that I could
only achieve dual channel mode by placing the DS RAM in **slots 1 & 2**. It
was in slots 3 & 4 that I was restricted to SC mode and 333 DDR. I haven't
tried slots 3 & 4, but as you say, the manual does agree with that
configuration.

My apologies for the confusion...
