Hey guys,

I posted above what I am using. For some reason I cannot get my MSI laptop to detect my ASUS monitor. I am connecting an HDMI into the back of the laptop, which goes into a display port converter and then the monitor has the display port slot in the back. Any Ideas?

You need an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. What you have is a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, which is for connecting a DisplayPort computer to an HDMI display, not the other way around. What you want is much costlier and unreliable.
