I have a new msi laptop it has a 1tb hdd.it has two m.2 slots one that says sata or nvme and the other one says nvme .so can put in a nvme 1tb and remove the hdd and use the nvme for boot and storage

Solution
You should be able to just make sure that when you are buying it to check the pins to see if they match the slot on the motherboard.
If you want you can also put the hdd back in after OS install to have extra storage space. It won't slow anything down if it's not primary it will just be used for extra storage so the SSD doesnt wear out faster.
