i had a asus motherboard and had armory crate that was amazing because you could set the fans on silent on gaming mode and update everything
Now I have msi mag b550 tomahawk max wifi and i googled and downloaded msi afterburner and it sucks so bad
it only shows 2 fans and i have 4 and it only lets u adjust the gpu fans
is there an app like armory crate for msi?
or is it generally asus is alot better then msi?
is there any program i can set my fans to?

You could try this one:

That's because MSI AB tool is used only for monitoring the GPU fan speed/status, and not other components, including CPU or case fans. For MSI, you must download the DRAGON CENTER or the MSI center app:

Have you tried MSI Center? It should provide similar functionality although I'm not sure about fan control.

I'd suggest using BIOS fan control options for fans connected directly to motherboard headers. It can be a bit finicky setting up a temperature sensitive curve using the right sensor for each case fan, but once set up it operates very consistently.

And a comment about the motherboard utilities, especially Asus' Armoury Crate app. Asus seems to use their app to "phone home" at every start-up. What it does is pretty much unknown...possibly harvesting user data for their own purposes and to sell-on like Google, TikTok and so many others do. I wouldn't be surprised MSI's Center does too but at least you have to install it while Asus installs theirs unless you disable it in BIOS.

Not sure how to do that when I type bios in windows 11 it doesn't come up with fan controls is it supposed to?
I wouldn't expect typing "bios" would lead you to the BIOS.

To enter the BIOS, you'd typically hold down a key during a restart.

Maybe an F key; maybe delete; varies by motherboard. The correct key should be shown on the screen for a second or two early in a reboot process. Investigate that.

You'll have to poke around in the BIOS to find fan controls. Might be under "advanced" section somewhere.

Oh okay like when u want it to boot for windows 11 install? And once in bio I am assuming find fans and set according power to temptation setting?

Do yourself a favor: go find your manual and read about BIOS screens first. You can render your computer inoperable to you (although it's most likely fixable) if you make incorrect settings so it's important to understand a few things about it.

Once you have a basic understanding, the easiest way to enter is press the DELETE key once a second when the computer is starting up. That should take you into BIOS setup screen, sometimes it doesn't so repeat. You'll probably come into an EASY screen which is pretty much just informative about system status. Somewhere there should be an instruction telling you how to go into fan setup...probably by pressing something like the F6 key. Once in the fan profile setup you'll have to figure it out, hopefully your manual helps you.

When done, press F10 to exit and SAVE the changes for every restart. If you don't want to save changes press ESC and it will discard them and exit to the OS. Pressing ESC is especially good if you're not sure what you've done and want to be safe about it.

Yeah I destroyed a pc from going into the bios once before so I'm a bit iffy about it I had a look when I installed windows 11 but msi looks complicated Asus armorycrate was amazing it had 3 profiles silent web browsing and gaming
Msi doesn't even have anything allnu can control is gpu fans

Don't be too afraid of using your BIOS setup since after all it's pretty much a requirement when you build your own PC to get the most out of it. Otherwise, you might as well have bought a pre-built and live with the compromises they made.

The good thing about the entry or EASY screens as a start point is it's hard to impossible to do anything in that screen to mess up the computer from working. You have to enter the advanced screens to be able to do that.

But even if you should do something wrong and save it for restarts the fix is easy: reset CMOS. Instructions are in your manual but basically, shut down and disconnect power from your computer. Find the two CMOS reset pins and short them together with a metal screw driver tip for a minute or so. Then reconnect and start back up to factory-reset BIOS settings.
