Hail all:

I have the msi mag z460 tomahawk, which uses Realtek technology.
Been 2 days now, trying to install a Realtek driver, but it keeps failing.

At first, I got a 0001 error code, I had to remove the old one first.
No problem, went into System, advanced, turned off auto-install driver.
Then I went into device manager, only to figure out I cannot remove the damn installed one.

This made me go look which files were from said system (never figured out whom the driver even belongs to... Sony?), and began to rename these.
Once done, reboot, and delete files, which now worked.
Device manager also no longer mentioned that unnamed driver.

So, I got the Realtek 2.8.2 x64, let's install it.
Install completed without hickups, want to reboot?
Yes please, do so.

Rebooted, sound, good start there already.
But I miss the Realtek manager icon.
So, I went to the Realtek fol... wait, where's my Realtek folder?
It's not under Program files?
Maybe Program Files x86???
No, not there either.
Peculiar...

Open device manager... that unnamed thing was back.
Checking for Auto-installer... still turned off.
I do not get that... where the hell came that thing back from?

Went to Safe Mode, Device Manager, uninstall driver... hunted the rest files down, and I did not even need to rename them, I could delete them right away.
Reboot.

And AGAIN that unnamed returned.

No matter what I try, the Realtek refuses to install, and the unnamed one keeps coming out of nowhere from.
It's been 2 days that this is bugging me into insanity, but I just do not get the Realtek driver to install!!!

Anyone an idea, please?

Thank you.
Ben

Well well, I found A solution...
I found by accident a Realtek Driver (x64) on the motherboard drivers page from MSI.
That one installs beautifully, but does not contain the additional manager.
And for some reason, though x64 according to the install info, it installs 32bit and nestles itself in the (86) folder?

SO: since Realtek is FINALLY installed, upgrading is dead easy.
Not.

Went back to my nice 2.8.2 driver with manager, start it up, it installs, I reboot, and... NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
THE UNNAMED ONE...

I am devastated...

What is this crap?

Update:
Re-installed MSI one.
Went to Control Panel.
No mention of Realtek there!!!
Though in Device Manager I now see Realtek, it seems, according to Control Panel, STILL not installed.
