MSI motherboard will boot and then give FF error after running a couple minutes

I've had the MSI MPower Max AC motherboard for several months now and it was running fine. The strange thing is that it now boots and runs fine for a bit (displays 3C on the display (always has so I assume that isn't an issue), runs for a bit and then changes to FF (and sometimes freezes the system). I've been reading other peoples solutions, but the problems seem to be showing up before boot... The first thing I plan to test when I get back home is to connect everything to the Corsair to see if the OCZ is having some sort of power delivery issues since it is the one powering the mobo and cpu (although it shouldn't be unless it failed because total system power usage at the moment is about 750w across both power supplies).

General specs:
Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPower Max AC
CPU: Intel G3220
Ram: 8 GB Kingston HyperX
Power supply: Corsair AX 1200w and OCZ Firepower Mod XStream Pro 700w

I have a R9 290x, 270x, 7950, and 5970 (only drawing 800w including fan because I'm using x11 right now). We had some issues with some cattle so I haven't been able to tinker with the power supplies... I have gotten the system up and running on the second bios (I remembered reading a thread that mentioned that and I have a bios switch) although I need to retest with the first bios to further verify. The thing that still has me confused is that the FF error came after loading the os (does sound a bit like a power delivery issue, although that psu doesn't have much of a load). I am using powered risers, so there is no mixing of power amongst devices.

  • It seems my problem was because my 5970 gpu is/was failing (hopefully re flowing the solder will fix it), sorry about the long wait to post this solution (not exactly a 'solution', but rather an explanation for my problem).
