MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Edge WiFi ATX bios version 7C79v11 not overclocking cpu. Override Voltages will carry through, but CPU ratios won't "register". 10700k CPU runs stock 4.7 to 4.8ish with a complete 5.0 all core overclock (Ring ratio set to 4.8) with C States disabled. Windows power setting set to Ultimate to hold frequency, but the cores go up to 5.0 for 5 seconds on boot and drop to just sit at 4.7. No throttling at all. Voltage and temps are dead on. I opened a support ticket with MSI. I guess I'll just buy a better board. I haven't noticed anything that I've missed on the OC.

Sure. Voltages peak around 1.25 if the board controls them. I set to 1.3 to attempt 5ghz in the bios. Intel extreme tuning tool pushes voltages to 1.412 max spike at 5.1ghz. Cooler is a Kraken X73 360mm aio. Temps max at 72 under heavy gaming at 5.1ghz. 83C max using intel tuning to 5.1ghz under avx instruction. I re-flashed the bios, but it still acts the same. It's so odd.
I found the problem! MSI One Dragon Center "performance settings" were overriding bios settings. I disabled the Dragon performance settings, rebooted, and bam! Fixed. What a pain. I found out that software was changing the ratio in Windows Event Viewer. It logged One Dragon overwriting something, which led me to suspect it was the culprit. Sure enough it...

Out of curiosity, what sort of voltages are you dealing with and what sort of a cooler are you working with? You might want to reflash the BIOS with the version you're on(since that's the latest).

Here are the OC settings I ran. I also posted in the Linus Tech Tips forum. No one seems to know why this isn't taking... 1.325V, actually. Sorry about that.

I'm OCed to a stable 5ghz now. Max 1.325v, and max temp on one of my cores hits 75c in Cinebench R20. The rest of the cores run cooler. Cheers.
