MSI Night Elf and Kaby Lake- compability

Hi everyone!

I am almost done buying all the parts for my new PC. Got MSI MOBO 'Night Elf' using chipset B150. The question is, will Kaby Lake CPU work on it? I saw that they have included bios update on their website for this mobo for Kaby Lakes, but I am not sure whether it will recognize Kaby Lake on factory BIOS. Did you guys try to combine Skylake mobos with Kaby Lakes CPU? Does it work?

Most B150/Z170 mobos need a BIOS update to support Kaby Lake CPUs

Thanks for the answer, but my question is will it run on brand new mobo? Will it even recognize Kaby Lake? Because in order to turn it on, I need CPU.

The only way to update the bios, is to use a 6th gen processor, to complete the process. To answer your question, no your motherboard won't recognize 7th gen processor.

don't know, but if you search on the forum. A lot of people having issue with new 100 series they just bought that do NOT work with Kaby out of the box
