[SOLVED] MSI Nvidia 760 OC edition fan randomly goes crazy

The fan on my MSI Nvidia 760 GTX OC edition seems to randomly spin up for no real reason.

It happens when I am on the desktop or gaming.

It goes to like 5k rpm according to GPU Z but the temperature remains nominal.

I've removed it from the slot, reseated it and unplugged and replugged the additional PCIE power cables.

I've updated the drivers to the latest version from Nvidia.

My power supply is suspected of failing, could this be the cause?

So, I'm not going to say the PSU "IS" the cause, but it certainly "could" be. If the supplied voltages are out of spec, then it can throw a variety of systems out of whack. If you suspect the PSU is failing then it should be replaced with a reliable high quality unit ASAP and then see if the problem still continues.
