So i bought the card recently, installed software fine. Noticed the card was getting hot to the touch while gaming but the fans were not coming on.

I thought they were supposed to come on automatically when it reaches certain temperature but it doesn't seem like they do.

I used Kombustor GPU stability monitor from MSI afterburner and still getting a temp. of 67c plus without any fans turning on.

The only time they come on is when i go into the MSI gaming app and click the snowflake looking button, but then they come on for about 30 seconds before turning off again.

It would be great if someone could tell me if this is supposed to happen or if something may be wrong and what to do if it is

Thanks.

I have the same card, and it is not designed to turn fans on until it hits 60-ish°C, and even then it's only on a low speed. I heard somewhere that early version used to get stuck when first used if they hadn't been used for a while. A solution was to run on the "cool" mode for a few hour to break in the bearings.

Hope this helps!

I have the same card and it happened with me as well. Launched 'MSI Afterburner' but no success. Here's what i did:

Open 'Settings' and under the 'Fans' tab, check the 'Enable user defined (blah blah)' and chart your on graph. Set manually what percentage of fans you want to work at 20, 30, 50, 75 and 90 degrees. Click 'Ok" and press the 'User Define' button just beside the 'Fan Speed (%)' bar. It will be covered in a colored border if its enables successfully.

You'll see that your fans will start suddenly according to the new graph that you have just set.
