MSI OC switch

does anyone know if the OC switch on MSI motherboards OC's the memory and videocard or just the CPU. might use until i get a chance to get the hang of overclocking, migh not use. 770 chipset phenom II x4 925 cpu.

The CPU only, if you want to overclock the ram you need to go into the Bios or use a 3rd party software (not-recommended).....

Actually, it overclocks reference clock (AMD HT clock or Intel base clock or FSB clock, depending on architecture). That means it also overclocks the RAM, since the RAM is set as a ratio of base clock.

If the Ram (FSB) is set at 200 and he hits the OC button it will only increase the CPU multiplier unless he has a profile set specifically to raise FSB. Well at least that's the way it is with "Easy OC switch".

Unless he has a Black Edition CPU, it cannot increase the multiplier and must instead increase HT clock.

Correct, thought we were talking about the 940 =)

The OP is better off raising the FSB in the Bios as opposed to using the Easy OC switch.
