MSI Optix G24C, not running at 144hz

So I just bought a monitor and it go here today I go into display settings put it at 144hz and I can visually see no difference between 60 and 144hz. I know it's not my eyes because I have a 75hz monitor and I can see a difference in that. I am powering the monitor with and rx 480 8gb gaming X from MSI. Any help is appreciated. I am using a display port cable that came in the box.
