Question msi optix mpg27cq monitor 144hz refresh rate, but cant set it too 144hz.

I purchased a new monitor. it has a 144hz refresh rate but I cant get it to stay in 144hz. as soon as I start a game up it switches back to 60 hz even when having 144hz selected in the game and in my windows advanced display settings. i use to have another msi optix monitor and had no problem getting it to stay in 144hz. is there something im missing?

same problem. I tried windowed and it show it as 144 hz.

I decided to shut my computer down and unplug monitor for a few minutes and now it seems to be working just fine.

Well that was short lived. every time I shut my computer down and then when used next it says its in 144hz then as soon as I start a game up it reverts right back to saying 60hz.
