Onboard Soundblaster X-Fi 7.1
4 PCIe x16 Slots
FSB1333
DDR2 1200

I would just love to read some of the thoughts our fellow hardcore enthusiast / Gamers have on this board.

Is this one in the ballpark?

Will the onboard X-Fi sway anyone from buying the ROG.

I have no idea what they are doing with the BIOS... and I'm sure few others know either, but lets say the BIOS is standard - nothing special - MSI... is it worth overclocking the old fashioned way for what appears to be a pretty fat board?...your thoughts........

Haven't seen nor heard any news about this board? You have any links?

WTF is onboard X-FI... that would be bad-ass if they actually incorporated it... 4 PCI-E x16 slots though, is overkill...

MSI makes decent boards, shrug, but this kind of seems like overkill... guess we'll see..

Overclocking the old fashioned way?
I never knew there was a new way to overclock that was any better than doing it through the bios.

and got any link to the info

Other than the 4 PCI-E lanes, and the X-FI (Still don't know wtf they're talking about there) it seems like a fairly standard board. My take, just wait on more reviews before taking the jump.

Looked at it and the most recent article is from the inq 😳

MSI 680i

They talk about 3 PCIe slots. And it looks like it actually IS a X-Fi soundcard integrated. Pretty neat feature, sounds expensive, especially for me who doesn't have a great ear and old speakers...

Heh, fairly standard 680i board I mean... nothing that really seperates it from the rest of the batch.

Either way, I rely on real life test for most things. Talk is just talk. We'll see what happens when MSI really throws their glove into the ring.

And integrated X-FI... that is helluva interesting, I can't wait to see that pan out.

My apologies Sir... I was only reffering to the more recent releases from ASUS, eVGA, and BFG's with respect to thier "user Freindly" BIOS revisions... that come with an arsenal of explainations right on the Blue BIOS screens as well as many more setting and save profile options "listed" vs try it and fry it.

A situation that has spawned a much greater influx of OC'ers into what seems to be designed as a means of encouraging novice enthusiasts to purchase more and more (Not that it's a bad thing).

Kinda like the Japanese Car modification craze of the last decade or so.

SoundBlaster X-Fi is pretty good, and much better than most onboard I would imagine... I have an MSI board now with SB X-FI and I have no complaints... I am a serious gamer.

The 4 PCIe slots I would guess is for Quad SLI... I would also have to assume the Mobo BIOS would support it... and again just a guess on my part, and not sure if any gains would be realized. You would probably have to get an Antec NineHundred Case with the 200mm fan or even a 250mm fan to cool that rig... unless you have the juevos for Watercooling.
