so i finally managed to get the laptop that i need, and now i want to personalize and reconfigure some of the options so that this is a long lived investment, ie undervolting the cpu/gpu, disabling a core or two, and lowering the processing speed. i have read that these things shouldn't do any serious damage to my system.

the problem is that the BIOS that is already installed does not have those options listed above. there are some BIOS that have what i would want but i've read that if you buck something up while reinstalling a new BIOS, the laptop is done for, and i don't want to do that. so now my options are limited and i don't know where to start. any help with this would be a godsend.

edit: no help? 🙁

You can only use BIOS updates as released on the MSI support website, and it's "cut down" on purpose, as is the BIOS on most laptops and factory-built desktops, to stop the owner screwing it up & then making a warranty claim.

If you want a fully-configurable BIOS you need to build your own system using a retail motherboard (or get someone to build it for you).

A laptop is not the way to go if you're looking for a comprehensive BIOS.
