I have a PC that has been using a MSI R5770 for several years, and I upgraded to a MSI R7850 about four months ago. Recently the computer began acting strangely, in that it wouldn't bootup/post sometimes.

I narrowed it down to this: when I unplug the HDMI cable from the card, the computer will post -- giving the beep and then booting up the OS. I have the computer connected to a Samsung LED HDTV.

My setup is:
MB: MSI 890MX-GXM-G65
CPU: AMD 1055T
RAM: Gskill 2x4gb ddr3
PSU: CMPSU-550VX (Corsair 550)

As far as I am aware, I am up2date on BIOS for the MB.

I don't have any other way to connect the computer as all I own are HDMI hd TVs. I have put the olde MSI R5770 back into the machine and it boots just fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

We'll see how this goes, but after noticing that the MB BIOS version was being reported as 'Unkown' inside Windows, I decided to download and flash the latest BIOS again. This seems to have cured the issue. If the problem returns, I will seek further assistance.
