I've owned an MSI R9 270 for over a year now and it's been fair quiet. It's in a Fractal Design Define R4 which is a damn good case at noise cancelling, but as of the past week my card has sounded stupidly loud. I haven't done anything inside my case prior to this that might affect it.
I've opened up Afterburner and watched the fan speeds scale as the temperature rose from Kombustor, the card hits 60C before it remains stable and the fan speed stops increasing, and it sounds like a jet engine. I have to lower the speeds substantially for it to get quiet but by then the temps will have rocketed to 78C.
I've taken the cooler off the card, completely dusted it out, I've cleared the case, dusted it, done everything and yet this problem still persists. Any ideas?
