Hi. I have the MSI R9 280x running 2 screens. I have a new build of an AMD FX6300, a Gigabyte 970A-UD3P, EVGA 650w psu and 8gb 1600 RAM. When I build a fresh install of Win 7 Pro 64, it boots into windows for the 1st time using the standard VGA driver, fine. I install the catalyst drivers, version is 14.something, it reboots, goes through bios fine, windows loading screen fine and freezes just before showing the desktop. Caps lock not responding so total freeze. Will boot into safe mode and I can see the r9 200 series driver. I can uninstall it, it will reboot and freeze at the same point. I have removed the driver using a program called 'Display Driver Uninstaller DDU' and installed an earlier version of the driver, version 13.something, same result, freezing just before the desktop. I have tried both bios settings on the card, same result.

I would say the card is dead but what is throwing me is my bios screen is fine and it will boot into safe mode, suggesting to me it's a driver issue, but I've exhausted all options there...strange one this.,.any ideas?

Bad memory maybe. Try to unplug RAMs with power supply off, and turn the power supply again on without RAM on motherboard. Let the pc on power for 10min but don't turn it on, only on power. Then turn power supply off, plug RAM back into the motherboard and turn on the power supply and start your pc. Let us know if it worked.
