MSI R9 280X idle temps

Hi,

Urgently built a PC in
AvP Hyperion EV33B Cube Mini Tower Case(trash for airflow but needed something i could work with temporarily) with a 120mm fan as intake in the front blowing over the GPU and NH-D9L on the processor exhausting out.

I took apart the GPU and cleaned it as well as applied artic MX4 thermal paste but the GPU idles at 48C-50C. are these temps high because its in that case (does not have much airflow)? If the case is not an issue, how do I bring the idle temps down?

those temps are fine GPU's are made too go to the 70-90C nothing to be worried about at that temp to bring temps down add more fans but at that temp you are fine.

Yes, But i've read that this card should idle at 34-37C. While playing NBA it reached 94C (hasn't throttled yet). But you are right in that I should add more fans, any other way to treat this issue apart from adding more fans?

not really 34-37C is without room temperature I suppose/ what are you measuring the temps with a lot of different software and can range in readings.

Measuring GPU temps with afterburner. Used to get 35-37C with room temps (in the UK so its a bit cold right now) room temp should be 20C (I think).

well I have never taken a GPU apart but you could water cool it but its expensive

In summers 40 to 50 degree C is normal. If cabinet is spacious and has good airflow there may be decrease of about 2 to 3 degree C.
