Recently I upgraded my GFX to MSi R9 290 Gaming and it worked fine for 2 days then my PSU refused to cooperate because it couldn't handle the workload, being 5 years old and whatnot.

Yesterday I got a new, Corsair RM1000W PSU, which should in theory be more than enough to handle all the workload (more than twice of what is necessary, in fact, if various internet PSU calculators are to be believed).

So I got all the cables right, started the machine up and after it hits the Windows loading screen, it does nothing. The screen remains blank. Once or twice after numerous resets, the computer did indeed get to the login window and everything worked normally, but now it simply sits at the blank screen and does nothing.

Also, whenever I start up the PC with the new GFX, both screens show this at first (this happened even before I switched the PSU):

(possibly) relevant PC info:
i7-860 CPU
Gigabyte P55A-UD3 mobo
Corsair RM1000W PSU
2x 4gb Corsair Vengeance RAM
MSi R9 290 Gaming GFX (a variation of Radeon R9 290)
some Intel SSD
some random DVD RW unit
a network card installed later because the integrated one didn't work properly
2x 200mm case fans

PC works fine with the old GFX and the new PSU. Could this be a problem with GFX drivers?
