MSI R9 290X or STRIX R9 380X

so i'm buying a new graphics card soon and I was surprised by some people saying that the msi 290x outpreforms the newer strix 380X. is that right?

Yea the 290x is the equivelant to the new r9 390 so yes its faster than the 380x.
