Hi, i have problem locating a driver for a graphics card that i recently purchased, it's a msi radeon r9 280x. I've searched online but keep getting directed to AMD Catalyst Controller, and cannot find a way to get the driver from there. Any help is much appreciated

If what you mean is your looking for "Msi" drivers, than you have to understand that all radeon gpus have "AMD" drivers aka Catalyst Controller (Latest is Omega) which you can download here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

You can get other utilities like overclocking software which can be Manufacturer specific. E.g HIS have iTurbo.

Hope this helps.

I've installed that however I'm still unable to get it working, i made sure that the previous driver was uninstalled, and when ive used the autodetect that amd has it comes up with the gpu on my processor

Dont use Auto detect, Download the omega driver, uninstall all previous drivers. Shutdown your pc. Plug in your 280x and attach the monitor with your 280x. Now install the omega Driver.
