MSI Radeon R9 290 End of Life??

Hi all,
I want to purchase an MSI Radeon R9 290 GAMING 4GB but the problem is I can't find it anywhere for sale on the internet or in stores...

Have i been not looking hard enough or is it end of life...
I contacted newegg support but they gave me nothing to work with but some shitty text book reply...

If the card is never to be seen again then what is my best alternative for the same price range (or less) and performance.

I'm from Australia too so AUD prices/stores preferred.

Wait for 480 if you can, it will be cheaper and better. Otherwise, 390 is almost direct replacement.

The R9 290 was discontinued from sale when the R9 300 cards were released due to them being the same at the core as refreshes of previous cards however with more ram in the case of the 390(x) meaning that they cost more. I will look into alternatives however the R9 480 will almost certainly not outperform the R9 290/390 as if released it will be a refresh most likely. The RX 480 on the other hand does look like a promising solution for a graphics card however it depends how long you can wait for it to be released and how well it does in situations other than VR and Direct 12. I will look into other similarly priced solutions.

Damn that sucks,
I was looking at a GTX 960 but then found the 290 for around the same price and it had better performance so that's why I was looking for one.

If this new RX 480 is going to be around the same price as a 960 then I'll wait if not what would be my suggested alternative?

Rx480 is supposed to be sub $200. Sales are supposed to start June 29th.
