Only the 670E boards get PCIe 5 GPU support?

I am guessing these will need active cooling like the X570 boards that initially came out.

Seems like an ideal price to discourage buyers and encourage the selling of more Ryzen 9 5950X/5900X CPUs and solid X570 motherboards, if the customer doesn't abandon AMD entirely. I won't be doing a refresh any time soon.

Well good thing Gen 5 isn’t doesn’t appear to be needed for GPU support any time soon. Normally I would say spend a bit more and future proof. Especially with the long socket life spans of AMD. However $190 is a bit much more in pure dollars and percentage over the lower tier product.

Same here, I have an X570S motherboard and 5950X, and there's -nothing- about Zen 4 and X670/E that is anywhere near appealing enough for an upgrade.

Just imagine if AMD stays true to form and come 2024 or 2025 they decide not to support the X600 series chipset boards with new Socket AM5 processors, like they did with X300 series and Zen 3...

AMD said during their reveal that its up to the manufacturer.

they "could" give u 1 5.0 on a non E MB, but thats up to them (and ofc they wont at least early on)

pcie 5.0 is also a gimmick currently.

nothing can even use all of 4.0.

ssd "might", but again it wont be noticeable for 99% of users. only soemthign like server of pure ssd where speed = $$ matters.

I recently built a 5700x system as i couldnt stomach payign the ddr5 price for decent speed (which is req for am5)

I now feel better knowing my purchase is gonna last prolly all of AM5's lifespan now.

between GPU's being $400+ on low end & now locking key new platform features behind $500 MB its not worth it to upgrade until need to anymore.

wow absurd indeed

Gonna stick with my x570 more longer , over 1k$ for a cpu mobo combo, haven't seen many ddr5 pricing yet, seems 40% higher than ddr4 in my country for the same size ouch

I'm really not sure about this. Will see what it looks like around March. I'm waiting to see a 6950X3D model... But don't think I'm going too far north of $300 on the motherboard. Not to mention the cost of 128gb DDR5@6000 to hit best fit and current amount. The ram alone may be nearly as much as the CPU and motherboard. Can only hope pricing improves. Or may sit out upgrading for a while.

Currently running 5950X like several others in the comments.
