Hello guys,

Just got the MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G.

Looked around online and here in tom's h/w forums, particularly this thread:
https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/psu-cable-recommendations-for-msi-rtx-3080.3648312/

From the above thread:
- Corsair sells the replacement cables you need for PCIe.
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-|-Parts/PC-Components/Power-Supplies/Type-3-Sleeved-Black-PCIe-Cable/p/CP-8920111

The corsair replacement cable mentioned in the above thread is not available on Amazon.

My PC Specs:
Intel i7 5820k
G Skill F4-3200C16-8GTZR - 4 x 8 gig = 32 gig ram;
Corsair HX1000i
GPU Upgrade: MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G

So my question is: Would the following cable work (3 of these cables):
https://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-Pre...GA+Extension+cable&qid=1605431772&sr=8-4&th=1

Other questions:
Would my CPU bottleneck the GPU? I plan to do a lot of gaming, video editing and would the current CPU / Ram / other things work fine.
And the RAM, I am not using the max 3200 Mhz, I think I am running at 2400 or something, but definitely not 3200 Mhz, would that affect performance?

Thank you very much for your time, I appreciate it a lot.

The Corsair cables would be fine. As for monitor you want a higher resolution. Anything between 1440p 144Hz to 4K 144Hz depending on what is more important to you (FPS vs resolution) and budget. Your cpu might hold the gpu back a little at 1440p 144Hz but I highly doubt it’s enough to worry about.
If my understanding is correct, if I were to get the Corsair cable, it wouldn't cause any problem / wouldn't fry the components?

My monitor resolution is 1980 x 1080 and 144 Hz, but I run it at 120 Hz for now with the current installed GPU (GTX 970).
But I do plan to upgrade to a much better monitor in the future. Considering that what kind of monitor / resolution can my current PC setup handle?
Any suggestions would be most welcome. Also if I go for multi monitor setup, that would affect things?

Thank you for your answer, had I put in the wrong cable, I would have made a mess. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge a lot.
