My first thoughts.
It is a lovely looking machine and I love how solid its chassis feels.
The RGB keyboard is great and the keys feel really nice to use.
The screen is more than good for what I need but I would not say that it is true colour.
For a multipurpose machine, I would have liked a couple more USB ports but thats just me.

Performance wise.
I am very underwhelmed and disapointed with, what is, a very expensive purchase and I am not here to knock MSI but this is me expressing my first thoughts after owning and using the laptop for around 2 weeks..

From the start let me say that I am not a gamer and this laptop will not be used for gaming but that should be okay as this machine is advertised as a duel purpose, gaming and creating plus office work.

I wanted a super fast (within my budget), relitivly powerful and certainly snappy machine as I need it for Photo, Video and Audio editing together with basic office duties using MS Word and Excel.

I can only compare this laptop against my old one, a two year old ASUS Vivo Book 15 with 16 gig of RAM and this is my experience so far.

This new MSI is slower, more clunky than my ASUS but is should be faster and snappier.
On paper (at least) the specs of the MSI are way, way above my ASUS.

From the moment I press the power button on the ASUS it boots to the Windows hello screen in 3.5 seconds.
The MSI takes **22**, yes, 22 seconds - what the heck?

I have an 24mb test Excel spreadsheet with 4 worksheets.
On the ASUS, the Excel program would open within a second or two, on the MSI after clicking on the Excel Icon it takes SIX seconds to get to the opening screen, and once I click on the 24mb workbook to open, that also takes six seconds to open. Completely rediculous.
After saving the workbook, on the ASUS, closing it only took 1.6 seconds, on the MSI 5 seconds.

On the ASUS, audio plays back perfectly, no clicks or pops, even large wav files of say 10 - 15 minutes long.
I use Audicity and on the ASUS, a 10 minute wave file opens in around 2 - 3 seconds, on the MSI that takes 3 - 4 and longer. On the MSI, during playback, there are noticable stutters and/or gaps in the audio.
I ran a well respected test app called Latency Monitor and it says that the MSI "Is not suitable for Audio Playback".
WHAT!!!!
What machine, laptop or PC, can not handle playing back audio?
On a gaming machine, the audio is especially vital, as it plays a central part in any game ie. bad sound then the game sux.

Adobe Photoshop - one of my mail tools.
On the ASUS, from clicking on the Icon to when its fully open around 5 seconds, on the MSI it takes 12 seconds.
On the MSI, despite supposedly having fancy graphics, the is noticable lag when scrolling in, out, up and down a high res image, yes this happened on the ASUS but that is why I bought the MSI as it is supposed to be so much better.

It seems every program that I open on the MSI is slower to open, slower to perfom tasks, and slower to save files and how on earth can this be right?

I have not even tried editing video on my MSI yet as I have work that needs to get finished to help pay for the darn MSI as well as other household living bills but you get the picture.

This MSI should out perform my older ASUS by a long way but it is actually slower in every respect.

My expectation of a, on paper, faily powerful laptop is that programs open quickly with snap and that simple tasks such as saving a file are compleeted in a second or two.

I just do not get it, I just don't and, at the moment, I really regret buying this machine.

Sounds like you've got a lemon. I'm surprised you haven't returned it already. Do you have a return period, or are you stuck with warranty hell? MSI isn't a major brand, and I don't expect warranty support to be good.

Yes, you can try to troubleshoot it, but it's a new system and you shouldn't have to. My suggestion is don't bother with tech support, just try to get your money back ASAP.

Wait, you've held onto it for 2 weeks?! Dude.

haha my thoughts exactly.

In the UK (not sure about other countrys) we have 1 month after purchase to reject and return an item for a full refund.

I am leaning towards rejecting it but the catch is what to replace it with.
The things I am looking at are Latops like ASUS Creators and the like, and they are all on back order with no know ETS's - nightmare.

i have a 14" stealth studio and found the thermal paste had pump out within a very short period of time. replace with ptm7950 and ditch win11 for linux and its snappy as it should be (upped nvme to 4tb and 64gb ram). are you sure its not a win10 v win11 issue with some of the lag. also is fastboot enabled in the bios. i'd also check to see if there is some MSI bloatware installed which is more likely causing the issues within the OS.
