MSI Teases the GeForce GTX 780 Lightning Card (Again)

Some people prefer the lack of frame latency that you get with a single GPU. Did you know that sales of the Titan exceeded in just a few months the total the GTX 690 sold in its year and a half on the market?

The Lightnings are the best of the generation. My 680 Lightnings are as fast as a reference 780, because they can overclock like monsters (30%+ overclocks are easy).

Now I have to decide if I want to upgrade from the 680's to 780 Lightning SLI. BF3 @ 1440p already has trouble reaching 85 fps in some maps, which is the refresh rate of my monitor. I don't think the situation is going to improve with BF4.

Unfortunately that's not a problem that can easily be fixed. But believe me we ban 'em as fast as we find 'em. I like to think of it as forum "whack a mole".

wonder if the msrp will bve less than i paid for my truck ($750, old beater truck just fo ruse when needed not main tranportation) looks cool, but while lightning cards are great from a value perspecitve i wonder how it will sell if it is that much closer to the cost of a titan

Where is it? Almost a week later and...nothing! I'm considering just getting the 780 classified if they don't at least announce an explanation or new release date (and actually keep their word this time). Disappointing to say the least. MSI and integrity? You know the answer to that one now.

At this point, I would seriously consider the Galaxy GTX 780 Hall Of Fame edition, which seems to have set its sights directly on the MSI Lightning.

Unlike the MSI Lightning, at least the Galaxy HOF is actually in stock and available for purchase.

I like what Galaxy is doing with the GTX 780 HOF. I think it's going to go toe-to-toe with the MSI GTX 780 Lightning. However, I assume that the MSI will release the Lightning as a 2-slot card as they always have. Galaxy's 780 HOF is a 2.5-slot card. That may not work for me on my Gigabyte G1 Assassin MoBo. I will wait for Lightning to strike!

I guess I'm just getting a little frustrated. I have a nearly complete new rig with no gpu. I really was hoping that by now that I'd be able to read the reviews on the lightning so I can go ahead and grab one or a classified gtx 780. The hof looks nice as well but I haven't really considered it. Once all the data is out I'll be able to be see the comparisons and grab the one I want. I know you can buy eg the 780 SC w ACX cooler and OC but what I want is to see what the lightning can do and for how much! At this point if your spending nearly $700 what's another 40 or 50 in the long run? I'm waiting!
