Hello there.

So I have an MSI Trident 3 (GTX 1050 TI, i5-7400 Version), I was wondering what power socket thing does the GTX 1050 TI use from the PSU, and can the same one be used in for example a GTX 1060?

Thanks in advance.

Depending on the 1060, almost all use the pcie x16 slot and a 6pin pcie from the psu.
Depending on the 1050ti, most use the pcie x16 slot only. There are some OC models that use an additional pcie 6pin from the psu.

All gpus use the same connections. The pcie slot, a pcie 6pin, pcie 6+2pin or pcie 8pin or any combination.

General rule of thumb is that if the psu does not have the correct pcie plugs for the gpu, then no matter what size the psu is, it's not made for that gpu.
