Hi,

I will try to sum this up as best as I can. When I first received this card a couple of years ago, it ran like a charm very quite during gaming. The past 3 months I've been hearing fans rev up and down during gameplay and very loud. Apparently we came down to the conclusion it was my PSU. I went ahead and replaced it. A few days after that the loud fan noise came back. It turned out it wasn't my PSU. $190 later I find out it's my video card.

In idle my temperature is 45c and the fans are off

During gaming for example Star Citizen, The Forest, Minecraft basically any game. The fans keep revving up and down very loud.

Fan curve set to default. Not sure if it's temperature or maybe faulty fans?

This is where the GPU sits in my NZXT case

Download Unigine Heaven, run the benchmark with msi afterburner open.
Dont try to overclock,u will just be looking at the temps.
Leave the fan curve as it is dont touch it.
If the card gets close to 100C,that means its getting to hot and you should replace the thermal paste.
If its not, then the fans are the problem

If it reaches 100c replace the thermal on the video card or CPU? I was never aware we could fiddle with the GPU and replace thermal.

By any chance have you used compressed air to clean out the fans?
I always keep air cans in the house by the package. I use compressed air for all my stuff. Once I month I open the case and air it out. Wife cleans the house once a week. I clean the computer once a month.

I'm sorry it took long. I put thermal and thus far the fans are not going crazy when I play the forest. That was one of the biggest games that would make my fans go wacky. I started off at 32c idle but now it's back up to 44c. I'm guessing that's normal for idle. When gaming it actually stays under 70c. Cross your fingers hope this works. I was a bit skeptical that's why I took long. Safe to say thus far one game is working. I will have to continue testing for the next few days. Thanks for the heads up.
