I have been researching for quite a while now that the Pascal cards have been utilized.

The two laptops I am looking at are.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Gaming-GTX1070-G9-793-78CM/dp/B01LD4MKQI

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT73VR-TITAN-427-Display-i7-7820HK/dp/B01MU51RX0/ref=pd_sbs_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01N4IF422&pd_rd_r=59JXEY40GS6C6H46NANA&pd_rd_w=0JMkn&pd_rd_wg=wRMV9&refRID=59JXEY40GS6C6H46NANA&th=1

I am pretty set on a 17.3in, 1070, and TB3.

The differences between these two as far as I can tell.

The MSI has a 120hz refresh and the Acer has G-SYNC.

The MSI has the 7820HK and the Acer has the 6700hq.

The MSI is 450 dollars more than the Acer.

This laptop will be primarily used for gaming(open world survival, mmo, and rts) and watching downloaded videos in hotel rooms. I do zero video and photo editing.

I don't honestly think the 120hz refresh is going to be much better than G-SYNC am I wrong? I don't really play first person shooters.

The real question is the difference in CPUs really worth that 450 dollars more?

If someone has some other laptops in that price range with 1070, 17.3, and TB3 connector let me know.

First of all the links you posted aren't working and they are returning 404's on Amazon. Please correct them. The difference between processors is absolute. There are lot of differences between them. First and major difference is the generation of processor. 7820HK is the 7th Generation Kaby Lake Intel processor whereas 6700HQ is the 6th Generation Skylake Intel Processor.

Newer generation processors are more powerful and more battery efficient than previous generation ones.

Another difference is between the frequency and cache memory of the processor.

i7-7820HK's base clock frequency is 2.90GHz and it can turbo boost up to 3.90GHz whereas i7-6700HQ's base clock frequency is 2.60GHz and it can turbo boost up to 3.50GHz.

Cache memory of i7-7820HK is 8MB and same of i7-6700HQ is 6MB.

I know this is too much processor thing and if you don't understand these terms then in simple words i7-7280HK is more powerful and more efficient than i7-6700HQ and yes, definitely it's worth the money.

Coming to display now,

G-Sync can give refresh rates up to 240Hz which is doubled than MSI's display with 120Hz refresh rate. I won't comment on this because both of these are good, definitely GSync is better but 120Hz isn't that bad either.

If you can tell me your budget or correct those links then I can suggest you other models or tell you which one is better from both. From comparison of laptops in your question, it seems that MSI is better from both.

Thanks for the in depth response. The links should be working now. My budget is ~2000 which is why I am apprehensive about the MSI. The extra 25 percent cost doesn't seem worth the maybe 10-15 percent CPU performance. It seems that there is a pretty good split between people saying they aren't worth it and others saying definitely get it.

Thanks for looking. Again I want TB3, a 1070, SSD, and 17.3in.
