Hey, part buying for my new 5820k build is almost done. Just need the mobo, after extensive research I've narrowed it down to two...
ASRock x99x Killer
or
MSI x99 SLi plus

I'm only doing an SLi build considering my 28 lanes so both will be sufficient, I will be using a sound card as well. I have used MSI in the past and never had a bad one, but I hear amazing things about ASRock boards for OCing. I dont want to spend too much on the board so I capped it at 300.00. Lol, besides both boards go with my red and black color scheme.

Wow, if the QC is better then ASRock all the way, does anyone have experience with OCing their boards? Or the x99x board? Hoping to get at least a 4.5ghz OC out of my 5820k.

Well I've only slightly OCed my i5 3470, using the Non-K overclocking on a Z77 Extreme4. The BIOS is well laid out and simple to use in my experience. 4.5GHz should easily be acheivable, as long as you do well in the silicon lottery.

yeh, hopefully i get a decent chip. Well, id like to thank you all for helping me finish off this build. I was skeptical at first of ASRock but the reviews and research and the praise you guys gave jabe cemented this decision.

I would go MSI x99 SLi plus,,MSI have good QC now,I have many MSI board, they all work perfect.MSI X99S SLI Plus have support 3300 ram speed ,more rating and much cheaper than ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer. That board have very good value with 5820k.

MSI currently has no such issues, a couple of their boards, from AMD platform, were (rightly) critized of having overheating VRMs and DOA memory slots. Currently MSI has the same RMA rate as Asus, and they infact use high quality components, such rumours are biased and one should not be put off by it. MSI is as good as other brands, if not better.
