Question MSI X470 GAMING PLUS M.2 ISSUE

Hi can anyone help me with an issue i have with my PC?
Specs:
Motherboard: MSI x470 gaming plus
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700
GPU: RTX 2070
RAM: Corsair Vengence LPX
SSD: HP SSD S700 (sata 2 port)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda (sata 4 port)

So I wanted to add in another ssd and I bought the crucial p3 plus pcie 4.0 nvme m.2 ssd, which I tried to put into the M2_2 slot on my mother board. I have tried switching around my ssd sata ports and m.2 slots to trouble shoot my pc but the issue seems to be whenever I install my m.2 ssd onto my mother board and nothing shows up on my pc, it just shows a black screen and I am unable to even enter in bios. I have tried without the new m.2 and my bios shows that i am able to add in storage for the m.2 slots.
In the manual for the mother board it says that using M2_2, sata port 1 & pcie6 slot will be unavailable and M2_1 only supports pcie mode, I have tried both m.2 slots and different sata ports as well
Any idea what may be causing this and any fix?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? The M2_2 slot will operate at PCIe 2.0x4 speeds and your SSD should work in the other slot except it'd be running at slower speeds. Your SSD should go onto slot M2_1 which will operate at PCIe 3.0x4.

my bios version is on A.90

so if i install into
M2_2 it will be slower
M2_1 will be faster
is this correct?

in the manual it also says that the M2_1 slot only supports pcie mode
Im not really too tech savy so all this is confusing sorry
