[SOLVED] Msi X470 Gaming Pro Carbon vs MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi

Hello, I was wondering which motherboard I should buy since the release of the X570 motherboards. So, since I changed my plans from a ryzen 2700 to a 3600 for my future pc build, now I have to choose motherboard. In the past I had chosen the Msi X470 Gaming Pro Carbon but now there are some difficulties for using this and I was thinking if the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi would be better. The x470 costs 175€ and the x570 220€. Because the x570s offer some new features and improvements I rethought about the X470. What do you suggest me?

You can run the 3600 on pretty much any b450, x470, or x570 board without issue...it only draws 65w. I'd look more at the audio and LAN chip quality and number of M.2 slots when looking at boards right now...more so than worrying about x470 vs x570 at the price point you're shopping. Unless you own an AMD 5700/5700xt the x570 provided PCIe-4 is completely useless right now...and even if you do the benefit is questionable at this point over PCIe-3. The PCIe-4 NVMe slots are faster on x570 but again I doubt anyone could tell the difference between x470 and x570 in daily use and I wouldn't use that as the reason for paying more for an x570 board with inferior audio and LAN chips over a better quality x470 board.

Ok thanks for your help. So you probably suggest me to go with the good MSi x470 which is less expensive and has a lot of features, right? But lastly, won't it be a bit trouble to update Bios in order to use x470?

BIOS support should be there for the new chips...many boards offer a BIOS flash system that allows you to flash a new BIOS without a CPU plugged in, MSI included...just make sure you check the board makers website for that ability before buying.

OK thx, but the problem is that the MSI x470 Gaming Pro Carbon doesn't have a Bios flashback, so I will have either to loan a cpu from AMD, ask in the local retailer to update me the BIOS (which I find impossible). Do you know if there gonna be released any versions of the current x470 which will be ready for ryzen 3rd gen? And lastly, I was thinking that if it's better to simply go with the x470 and a ryzen 2700 which will be compatible by default. Is it a bad idea???

The 2700 is a fine chip...for all around use it's hard to beat...so if you choose that cpu the x470 Gaming Pro Carbon is a solid choice. If you're building primarily for gaming the 3600 is the right choice...the MSI MPG Gaming Plus X570 looks like a decent board for the money. It comes with decent ALC1220 audio, 2 M.2 slots, and the vrm and heat sinks look good enough to handle a 16 core Ryzen at stock settings so it's more than enough for the 3600.
