Hi, Does this motherboard MSI Tomahawk X570 Wi-Fi support PCI-E 4.0 for GPU with Zen2? I currently am using it with a 3800XT and a 1070(PCI-E 3.0) but would like to upgrade to a PCI 4.0 Card when they become available.
Will this configuration support PCI-E 4.0?

You can run a 4.0 card in a 3.0 slot with no real difference.
This is using the RTX 3090.

You don’t need PCIE 4.0 for a gpu. NVidia when they revealed the 3000 series actually used a 10900k which is 3.0 for their demo and benchmarks. Maybe future generations might benefit but at the moment it doesn’t matter.

short answer is yes, a 3800Xt cpu on this motherboard allows the first PCIe slot to support PCIe 4.0
