Hi
I would like to know the following.
Have a spare old MSI X58A-GD65 mainboard that I would like to use to replace in my "all round pc"
I just need to know the following as I have seen some articles on Gigabyte X58 boards and is really quite confusing.
Question:
Will I be able to effectively run this board in Windows 7 64 Bit making it possible for the systemn to read 12 GB RAM as it supports 24 GB?
2.Will it support my Intel I7-960 CPU (LGA 1366)?
Why I would like to make sure before I dismantle the machine and have to rip it apart again later is:
On the website of Gigabyte: www.gigabyte.co.za there is a funny annotation which does not make sense and would like to make sure that this does not apply to the MSI X58A board.
"Due to Windows Vista/XP 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB."
The board does support 24GB.
Does the interpretation mean that although the board can handle 24GB it is limited to 32Bit o/s (which does not make sense to me),or does it implies that at the time of the boards manufacture, the board was manufactured to support next generation 64 Bit,but at the time Windows did not release 64 bit o/s yet.
Thanx for the time reading this and helping to clarify the wording correctly.
