Hello, I had my PC built by CyberpowerPC in 2012 and I need to start upgrading my RAM and CPU. The graphics card is fine for now as I upgraded it once before to the AMD 7970Ghz edition.
I found RAM that is compatible with the X79A and now I am trying to find a new CPU that can run the games of 2016/2017 with ease. I have the Intel Core i7 3820 3.60ghz, on the cpu-upgrade page I linked below it says this is a compatible CPU but I believe it is pretty old and I could use an upgrade. The rest of the compatible CPU's on that website I don't know if they are any good.
Do I need to upgrade my motherboard in order to save money in the long run and get the best future proof performance? Or is there a good enough CPU I can throw on it?
