Hello guys, I want to upgrade my ssd to a PCI-E ssd. I would like to know if the ssd I am wishing to buy will work properly with my motherboard in sense of speed of the drive.
So I have MSI x79A-GD45 Plus motherboard, Windows 10, and Im looking to buy "Samsung SM951 128GB M.2 PCI-e Gen3 8Gbps x 4 Solid State Drive (MZHPV128HDGM-00000)". I have read on a couple of forums/ motherboard manual but it does not specify if my board supports PCI-E x4 Lanes. Can anyone help? I would also ask if anyone could suggest any pci-e adapters for this m.2 ssd. Thanks alot!

m.2 Samsung SM951: http://

Your motherbd does not have an m.s socket so you will need to get a pcie slot adapter to use an m.2 drive; or just get a pcie based ssd to begin with.

As for if you have an x4 slot, you don't but you have plenty of x16 slots: three pcie ver3 slots and two version 2 slots. And an x4 card will work fine in an x16 slot.
So you will need to let us know how your motherbd is currently populated for us to be more helpful.
