I'm building a new computer, and I'm having some trouble with my MSI motherboard.
The motherboard has 24-pin, 8-pin, and 4-pin power connectors. From looking around some forums, it seems that maybe the 4-pin connector isn't really required, which is what I'm hoping because my 750w PSU only has the standard 24-pin and 8-pin ATX cables. I'm not overclocking or doing anything complicated.
When I try booting up my computer, I'm getting a beep code from the motherboard: one long followed by two short. The manual for the motherboard doesn't list beep codes (it doesn't even have a troubleshooting section), but again from looking around it seems as if that code indicates a video problem of some sort.
My video card lights up when I boot up the computer, so I don't think the 4-pin power connector is the problem. I've tried unseating and re-seating the graphics card. I've tried plugging the monitor into both VGA ports. And I keep getting the same beep code. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
