MSI Z170 Gaming M3 mobo jpwr2 cable does not fit?

Working on a gaming build with Zotac GTX 970, core i5 6600, and said mobo, with a cooler master 212 evo and Corsair TX750W power supply. It is not a modular power supply, and the 4+4 pin connector that is on the power supply does not fit in the jpwr2 slot on the motherboard. So my question is, can one half of the 4+4 connector that fits be plugged in and my system still work fine?

Those are standard connectors and should fit.

They don't fit though. One of them fits, it has two square and two rounded connectors. The other only has rounded, and the jpwr2 slot has two square/two rounded for both sides

Yeah. It doesn't look like the picture. But that adapter should work. Question though..... you can't just use one half of the 4 cable right?

It might work but I would use the adapter, refer to your motherboard manual.
