Hello,
I recently purchased a new motherboard/cpu/ram combo to upgrade from my old 2400 system and have been having nothing but problems.

I initially started with a 7600k and Asus z170-ar board and could not get it to post. The diagnostics led was saying there was a vga error, so I unplugged the video card and tried using the onboard video. Same problem. I tried putting one stick of ram in each slot but got the same error.

I tried clearing CMOS, taking the motherboard out of the case and only having the CPU/fan and one memory stick installed, same error. I even tried a different psu to see if it had crapped out in the last hour, but no dice.

I took the board back to Microcenter and got a new copy to see if it was a bad board, but got the same issue with this one.

After this, I replaced the motherboard with an MSI z170a Gaming M5 and got a new 7600k in case that was the issue. Now I'm getting post error 62, which I believe has something to do with the video.

At this point, the only other item that had remained constant was the ram, so I bought some PNY Anarchy 2133mhz to test. Unbelievably, same error.

Each new setup was done both inside and out of the case, with nothing but cpu and ram installed, and with and without the gpu installed. After literally changing out every component, I am completely flabbergasted.

Oh, I also checked for bent pins on the socket each time and didn't see anything wrong.

Here's my system specs as of this time:

Intel i5 7600k 3.8 ghz
MSI z170a gaming M5
2x Crucial Ballistix sport ddr4 2400mhz
Sapphire Amd r9 290 tri-x
Corsair hx1000i

Short of praying to the old gods and the new, I don't know what else to do. I've been building pcs for 12 years now and have never had so much trouble as this build has been proving.

TL/DR: 3 different motherboards, 2 different cpus, 2 different brands of memory modules and 2 psus and no post with same error.

Okay thank you. I wish I had known that going in. Since I don't have another 1151 chip to update the bios with, I'm guessing my only option would be to flash or get a Z270 board..Not sure I want to risk a flash.

Just got back from replacing the board with a 270 and it worked flawlessly! Thank you very much. My wife actually suggested checking if the BIOS was up to date but I thought the board would have been shipped with the ability to use the new chip. Should have listened lol.
