Hello I've been having super weird issues with this mobo - unstable overclocks, crashes, dead ram stick. but this is my latest problem that I can't seem to get around.
Regularly if i plug in an audio device such as a pair of headphones into the audio port on the pack or a digital optical cable the HD Audio manager software pops up and allows me to set up the devices settings. It stopped doing this now and doesn't show any of the devices as plugged in. I have attempted to reinstall many times with the latest version and older versions but no success.
I also attempted to see if any of the audio devices are recognized by windows if I uninstall the realtek drivers which did not work. Right now the only things detected are my rx480 sound output(which i am using right now, over hdmi), virtual audio cables, the optical output whose sound bar moves if i output sound through it? but no light going out the port?, and in recording devices i get 'Stereo Mix - Realtek High Definition Audio'.
I have the latest version of Realtek HD Audio installed from the msi website.
I am considering buying a new motherboard ASUS Maximus IX Code Z270.
Please don't hesitate to ask for more details and any reply is appreciated. :)

Hi mazTart
I have looked deeply into this problem and unfortunately it ia a realtek driver problem, NOT YOU!!
Their Realtek HD Audio Drivers have all worked fine up until now (v2.82) or v6.0.1.8186, these are the same driver.
You will have noticed that not only has the sound disappeared but the sys tray control icon has gone too (so you simply cant adjust ant settings.
I am running win 7 Home Premium x64 also with built in realtek sound on Gigabyte Motherboard.
The solution is to uninstall v2.82 and re-install v2.81 or rollback the driver in device manager and like me, wait until Realtek sort the new driver problem.
I have informed them. Hope this helps
