[SOLVED] MSI Z270 SLI 32GB RAM not Detected

I bought 16GB (2x8GB DDR4 3200 Mhz) to add to my Windows/10 computer that already has 2x8GB DDR4 3200 to bring it to 32GB. With 16GB from either one of the two set of RAM the computer boots. When I put the 32GB in, the RAM lights stays on and the CPU does not post!

The RAM sets are exactly the same Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3200C16. The only difference I can see is the old one are version 2.2 and the new one version 5.6. Other than that they both have timing of 16/18/18/36!

Notes: The CPU is Intel core I5-7600k and the BIOS is set for CPU O/C at 3.8Ghz and RAM at XMP with the memory speed set to 3200 Mhz instead of the 2333 Mhz from the SPD.

Should I downgrade the over clocking? I really need it to play the new 64bits games and I cannot build a new computer for the time being!

BTW, I have two computers the Windows/10 for playing games and the Linux one from which I am sending this post!

Mixing a pair of 2-stick RAM kits to try to get a functioning 4 modules requires much luck...and is not really recommended. (for the very reasons you are seeing)

But, they are the same! Same model, same speed same manufacturer... etc

Added -> I just tried 16GB with one stick from each kit and the system boots! It's only when I put the 4x8GB sticks that it does not!

I just did the same with the Linux Box going from 16GB to 32GB (from 2 sticks to 4) and there are no problems. the major differences between the two systems are the motherboard. Windows/10 MSI Z270/I5-7600K + LPX DDR4 3200 and Linux with ASUS Z390 /I7-8700 + LPX DDR4 3600!

Further to my experiments, I put in the 4 sticks mixed (ie: A1/B2 old and A2/B1 new), cleared the CMOS to defauts (ie: no SMP, RAM @ 2333Mhz) an the system BOOTS!

So, It looks like the problem is with the RAM set for 3200 Mhz, the Mother board does not support that, only with 16GB at 3200Mhz!!

Mixing RAM kits is a gamble, even same make and model. Running lower speeds, looser timings and over volting are ways you can try and get them to run.
