Question MSI Z370 pro Mobo

Hello all I’m currently building a pc for my little brother in law and am having trouble getting power to the cpu. The problem is when the cpu power pin is plugged into the motherboard nothing will power on not even the ez debug lights. Although, when the cpu power pin is unplugged and the power is turned on everything will come on the fans, DVD player, leds, PSU, don’t have the cpu hooked up yet since I’m just testing mobo, ram, cpu or hoping to. Also the ez debug light 1 comes on when the cpu power pin isn’t in saying the cpu is dead, but that seems reasonable since it’s not getting any power. I’m wondering if I have a short somewhere, mobo is DOA, or if the cpu is bad. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!

what are you testing? really you don't have the CPU hooked up? why would you test the MB without the CPU?

@Zollie32 without a CPU installed, you're not "testing" anything. At least, nothing beyond 'yes, the MB gets power'.

Meant Graphics card isn’t hooked up. Must of auto corrected. It’s my first time in these forms, sorry. The cpu is hooked up

The cpu is hooked up, in the original post I meant the graphics card (1060 gtx) wasn’t hooked up
