Hi,
I just upgraded my PC from a MSI Z490, 10700k, and 4080 to a MSI Carbon WiFi Z790, 14700k and 4080 (same gpu). I previously had a Phanteks PCIE 4.0 vertical mount for my gpu and everything worked fine.
However, now when I use that same vertical mount/riser cable with my GPU, I get a code 96 on my motherboard, but when I plug in the gpu directly into the PCIE slot, everything works fine. I am plugging in my GPU to the top PCIE slot, and right below it is my Samsung 990 Pro. I've taken out the Samsung 990 Pro and same error code still shows up and doesn't boot.
It may be a bad riser cable as it is 3 years old but it worked fine in the old build. I really would like to have a vertical mounted GPU. Considering buying a new mount but anyone have any idea what the issue may be?
