I bought the z87-g41 thinking the full atx motherboard would have 9 holes for the 9 standoffs, but as it turns out, the motherboard only has 6 holes for mounting. the 6 holes align with the first 2 rows of standoffs closest to the i/o shield, but the third row would be under the board. Do i take the third row of standoffs out? im just worried the board might short if it only has six standoffs going through it.

Same question was asked yesterday..... IIRC, there's a picture of this on page 1-6 of your mobo manual. If the 3rd row of posts will hit anything on the MoBo, definitely take them out. The G41 is a very thin board width wise. I have noticed that this generation, we see very few eATX boards as manufacturers are fitting more and more onto less real estate.

If the standoffs dont hit anything, it doesn't matter what you do. I have never used the G41 so can't speak from experience....The GD-65 and G45 extend out past the 2nd column of standoffs about 80% further than the G41.

Ya might wanna support the board underside with a finger when plugging in the 24 pin ... other than that I see no issue.

Judging by the pictures of the G45, it...

Judging by the pictures of the G45, it looks like 3rd row of mounts is about the width of 8 or 9 ram slots away.... looking at the pics of G41 and manual diagram, , it looks like the edge of the board is about 6 or 7 slots away.
