MSI Z97-G45 and i5 4690k not posting or booting

Exactly what the title says. I recently got a new i5 4690k, but the two don't seem to work together and won't boot or post.
PSU: LEPA MX F1 600w
CPU: i5 4690k
Mobo: MSI Z97-G45
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
RAM: 12GB [Adata, 1 8gb stick + 1 4gb stick]
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6670

Can anybody help?

Can you please list what you have done so far to troubleshoot the problem? And if you can provide more detailed explanation than just no post or boot that would be helpful to use helping you.

You can check the MB's barcode to see what is the manufacture date. Here is how to "To Discern the Original Manufacturer Barcode" http://www.msi.com/page/warranty/#w-mb because the cpu is haswell refresh, some of the MB need update the BIOS to support it.
From the MSI site, I guess the MB need at least the 2.1 version 5/26/2014 ( file name 7821v21.zip ), if your MB was made before that date, you are out of luck that means you need other compatible cpu to update the BIOS, or go to local pc shop ask them do it for you, or RMA the MB.

Being a Z97 board both 4790K and 4690K are supported from the start and this is very likely not the issue

really then why do you need the bios up date for the chip as listed at msi for this board????

if not needed as you say then this should not hold true . right ??

That is not 100% true, if you don't know the MB series number, because the z97-g45 gaming MB was launched about May 6, 2014. http://www.techpowerup.com/200532/msi-also-launches-its-z97-gaming-series-motherboards.html If the MB has only 1st version BIOS, then the MB don't support either 4790K or 4690K, because haswell refresh cpu was released ( June 2014) after the MB launched.

did you see that the non k is supported under first bios but its the k that's not ??

I see this issue a few times but don't understand why the non k is but the k is not ??

so is it more out side it being unlocked cause what else is different between the K and non K that would require the bios update ????

Yes, like other brand mb too, gigabyte, asrock, etc. I don't know either, maybe ask intel, but i don't know they will tell you or not.

ya I see that also -- you would think the chip weather its a 4690- -k-s-t- what ever they would all be the same as working on the same bios default out of the box ?? so..... anyway thought I would point that out on this

one more thing is if this guy misaligned the chip when installing and may of caused bent pins ???? or if the psu plugs in plugged in correctly and firmly in there sockets??

Bent pins? 24-pin power connector does not plug in well? RAM? Those are possible, good point.

well I found for me its best to look before I leap and see whats what as far as what bios for the chip and plan accordingly

this maybe a lesson learned for him as we all learned as we go
