Okay, so earlier today I built my first computer with my friends, it was relatively easy, with not much trouble building the PC at all.

Once connecting the PC to my monitor and connecting all the peripherals and cables etc etc, my PC failed to boot. It started off booting windows 7 for a couple of seconds after showing the MSI Z97 Motherboard menu (where I had the option to load the bios) and being given the option to:
a.) start windows normally
b.) start windows repair
then for a split second showing the BSOD, but it was that quick it was impossible to see what it says. It then goes back to loading the Motherboard menu, and doing the process all over again.

Whilst all this was happening, it showed the 'b2' error on my motherboard.

I'm really not sure what to do, as the bios recognises all the parts, so I think all the hardware is okay, but from what I've seen from other people that have been facing a similar problem, it has been an issue with the graphics card? Something to do with updating the graphics card's bios from another system? I'm honestly not sure, I'm fairly new to all this.

Anyway here's my parts:
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
CPU: Intel i5 4690k
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
PSU: Corsair RM750
HDD: Seagate 1TB
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB

Everything in this build is new apart from the RAM and the HDD which I took from my old build.

Does anyone know what I could try? I have no idea what to do anymore:(

Well, my first question is did you wipe the drive and do a fresh install of Windows 7? Or are you trying to boot from the existing copy from the previous computer it was installed on? I don't know much about the B2 code, but if you tap F8 while the computer is booting you should be able to disable the automatic restart on system failure so you can see what kind of bsod Windows is throwing at you.

I was trying to boot from the existing copy from the previous computer, I've just tried disabling the automatic restart, but nothing happens when I press F8? Is there any other way I could view the BSOD?

Might sound dumb but, when you say wipe the drive, do you mean wipe my whole hard drive or?

So how would I remove the old motherboard drivers? And I got a new motherboard simply because my old one stopped working, but if it means anything my old motherboard was an MSI FM2-A55M-E33.

Right, but there is a lot of data on that drive that I really don't want to lose, so wiping it wouldn't really be convenient, is there any other way round it?

Edit: Just a thought, what if I reinstalled the OS on my ssd from a different system? Or wouldn't that work?:(

Yes, but the computer will never work right, and it'll take a lot of time and effort on your part, plus a ton of research. Not something I'm willing to help with. Part of building a new computer includes installing a fresh copy of Windows. Each motherboard is just too different from one to the next. If you don't want to lose your data, buy another drive and install Windows on it then you can just use your old drive as a storage drive.

Right okay, that's a relief. So in that case could I not just install my OS on my ssd? As that's literally a brand new drive with nothing on it.
