Running a Z97 MSI Gaming 5, 4670k @ 4.2 and an r9 390 (and 850w psu)
want a new GPU but not sure how high I can go?
I worry about compatibility too.. just built my son x470 with a 5700 and he had crashes until his bios was updated..
There are no Bios updates obviously for my MB.. sooo
can I use a 5600? 5600xt?
or do I need to go to say a 2060 so I wont have those PCI issues?

Thanks!!

yeah, it was a new build, and the gpu kept crashing.. updated the bios and it its perfect now. The bios was old.. it shipped with one from last July and there were like 6 since lol

USA.. 300 ish maybe? enough to get a 2060 or 5600..

Oh, cool, they extended the rebate into April. When I got it in March, I was lucky - it had the $30 mail-in rebate, but also a $30 promo code. Still, if considering a 2060 or 5600XT, it would be insane to turn down this deal on the 5700 Evoke. The 2060 Super is out of the question - the cheapest one is $60 more, and the performance about the same.

I don't know if it's changed, but when I got that card in March, I was able to do the mail-in-rebate portion online. That was convenient (had to just get an image of the UPC, and the invoice/receipt, the latter of which I saved it as a PDF), and I'm surprised that this isn't something that has already become commonplace.

That price/performance ratio on the MSI 5700 Evoke is REALLY hard to beat, and my son's been enjoying it immensely.

I swear companies just maintain the "mail" part of the MIR to make it harder for everyone (and more costly for the company to offer MIRs....) Can you imagine working at one of those MIR servicers?!! Ugh.

Online "MIRs" are fantastic.

they do it because many dont bother because its a pain lol...
reading more about it, it seems newer MB had voltage issues for the PCIe slot, whereas the 5700 needs a certain amount? anyway.. it worked.

I was told to not exceed a 5600 or 2060 ... also.. i know thats a good deal, but.. its so ugly! LOL
here is my system.. https://photos.app.goo.gl/wktcSuR32Y3Xi8ty7 i cut the window, did the glass image, the sleeving, etc...

i CANT put a gold card in it...

Ok, so, not that I'm trying to be a bad influence*, but... I'm thinking that jumping on this deal might be a good move. My son's monitor is 144Hz 2560x1080, and we upped him to this 5700 from an RX 580.

* yes, I absolutely am being a bad influence.
