I'm buying a computer next month, and I decided on the MSI Z97 Gaming 7 for the board, but then I discovered the Mpower, which costs almost exactly the same (at least where I live).

From what I've been able to glean, the boards are nearly identical performance-wise, so if I'm gonna decide between them, it's gonna be based on features.

So, my question is, what features does each board have that the other doesn't?

And, based on that, which board is more suitable for SLI gaming with a heavy CPU overclock?

The Mpower has more overclocking specific features while the Gaming 7 has more gaming specific features but really they are not much different. Unless you are going to get into hardcore overclocking i'd go with the gaming 7. Also much easier to colour coordinate than the yellow Mpower.

Define "hardcore" overclocking. Do you mean overclocking that involves overvolting?

Also, what gaming-specific features outside of the supposedly gaming optimized Ethernet connection does the Gaming 7 have that the Mpower doesn't?

As far as color coordination is concerned, it's not an issue. I'm going to buy the windowless Nanoxia DS5, so the board could be neon pink for all I care.

well, both are good mb!
I dont think you will get problem with any of it

but, the most different most be the LAN
as we know, MSI use killer LAN for all the GAMING products
and for the MPower, it use intel LAN

so if you are plan to play game with your computer, I will suggest MSI z97 GAMING 7 for you
if not, the MPower is more focus on the heavy overclocking, or we call extreme overclocking

and the second different is, the color
red and yellow, if you just want a good mb, and not the hardcore gamer or extreme ocer,
just pick the color you like!
